The services offered on this site are for use with helping with personal statements for University admissions through the UCAS process only.

We reserve the right to restrict access to the payment pages, the member pages, and the entire website at any time.

We are in no way affiliated with the Universities and Colleges Admission Service (UCAS) or with any admissions department of any University or other place of Higher Education.

If there are any changes to the details supplied to us by you it is your responsibility to inform us via our web form or by contacting support@personalstatementchecker.com as soon as possible.

You agree not to send unsolicited emails to email addresses at personalstatementchecker.com.

If you use or attempt to use the service for purposes other than managing your account and for personal and individual assistance with writing a personal statement for University admissions through UCAS, including but not limited to; publishing online or in print, or otherwise distributing individual feedback given by our staff to users, or tampering, hacking, modifying or otherwise corrupting the security or functionality of the services provided at www.personalstatementchecker.com your account will be terminated and you will be subject to damages and other penalties, including criminal prosecution where available.

We reserve the right to cancel your account at any time without notice.

We accept no responsibility for the content or services of any of the companies listed in the Links section.

We reserve the right the change the content, price and name of our services at any time.

We aim to return all Checks/Edits/Reviews within 72 hours of users uploading their personal statements and comments. Although many will be returned significantly sooner than this, it is possible that Users may receive their Check/Edit/Review after the 72 hour guideline due to unforeseen circumstances and technical difficulties.

The services at this website are designed to be similar to those offered by a teacher or any other relevant source of help such as family members who have had previous experience of the University admissions process. Accordingly, we do not encourage users to plagiarize in any way or form.

The criteria used for checking and editing user’s statements are based on common practices and are therefore intended to be similar to those that may potentially be used by admissions tutors. However we are in no way affiliated to the Admissions department for any University or other place of Higher Education.

Use of services

The services offered at this website are to help with an EXISTING personal statement only. Users may not upload notes/bullet points and expect our staff to edit these into coherent and properly structured writing.

Only individuals applying to a UK University through the UCAS system are eligable to use our services. You may not set up an account on behalf of anyone else. Corporate email addresses will be reviewed and may not be accepted. If we have reason to doubt your authenticy your account may be terminated.

You undertake to us that all the details you give to us while using the website are correct. In particular, that the personal statement and additional comments you upload to us are your own work and are not plagiarized from other sources.

You may not upload multiple personal statements. Additional and inclusive reviews will only be done on further edited versions of the SAME personal statement that was checked/edited.

A user account at www.personalstatementchecker.com is for individual use only. It is only available for personal use and no commercial use of www.personalstatementchecker.com or its services will be permitted.

"The Definitive Personal Statement Writing Guide" is part of our services and is subject to the same terms and conditions as other services. Specifically, this product is for personal use only and users are not permitted to copy, print, plagiarise, or otherwise distribute any part of the document. Any infringement of these terms will be prosecuted to the maximum amount permitted by law.

"The Definitive Personal Statement Writing Guide" is to be sold for £15, and is worth £15 when included as part of another package.

One person may only have one account at any one time. Access to the member pages of the site starts on the day of acknowledgement of payment. After this point, users may log in, but once they have used all the services they have paid for, they will not be able to upload any more information. Individual users may not use another user’s email address and password to access the member’s pages, or give their login details to another person to use. Users must take the necessary precautions to ensure that their login details are not used by other people. If users suspect that someone else is using their login details they must immediately contact us at support@personalstatementchecker.com

Order acknowledgement

Your order will be acknowledged by us via email, if you enter a correct email address. Once you receive an email from us, you will be able to log in and use the services provided by www.personalstatementchecker.com.

Payment

Payment can be made via Paypal only, and on a secure connection. Paypal accepts most credit and debit cards. There is currently no other available method of payment. For further details see www.paypal.com.

We reserve the right to change the cost of our services at any time without notice.

You undertake to us that all billing and payment details are correct and that there are enough funds in the account from which the payment is to be made to cover the cost of the payment. You undertake to us that the person providing payment for the services at www.personalstatementchecker.com is fully-consenting and are paying by their own free choice after being fully informed of the services they are paying for.

Refund Policy

Under the Consumer Protection (Distance Selling) Regulation Act (2000), Users are entitled to a seven-day cooling off period within which they may accept a refund of their payment. We do not issue refunds for services already received as any editing or any report given on a personal statement is considered 'customised' under the Consumer Protection (Distance Selling) Regulation Act (2000). You may receive a complete refund if you notify us of this before you upload your statement for the first time on our website via your "My Account" page. If you want to stop using the service after you have uploaded your statement for the first time and before the editor has replied to you, then we will issue a 50% refund. If you have already completed part of a package and would like a refund, you are entitled to a full or 50% refund for only the part of the package that has not yet been used. All prices on this website include VAT at the current rate in the UK and are subject to change.

Privacy Policy

We at PersonalStatementChecker.com are committed to maintaining privacy of your personal information. Therefore we do not collect any information that is not directly necessary for your use of the services at this website.

When you buy one of our services we collect information about you including name, address, email address and password. These will NEVER be given to any third party.

During the use of our services you will upload your personal statement and other comments. These will also be kept confidential. However during the process you may give consent for us to use an anonymized version of your personal statement for further training and service purposes. If so, any identifiable information will be removed from your personal statement, and this version may be used to train our staff, or may be used as “personal statement examples” to be given to members in the future. Also, after using our services we may contact you after you get your results to ask for feedback in order to further develop our services.

You agree that you do not object to us contacting you for any of the above purposes whether by telephone, e-mail or in writing and you confirm that you do not and will not consider any of the above as being a breach of any of your rights under the Telecommunications (Data Protection and Privacy) Regulations 1999.

We use 'Cookies' which enable your email address to be ‘remembered’ by the website when accessing it from the same computer more than once. This is to assist in your signing in procedure so that you do not need to re-type your email address when signing in more than once. `Cookies` cannot harm your computer and do not contain any personal or private information. You are free to decline the use of Cookies if your browser permits it.

Indemnity

You agree fully to indemnify, defend and hold us, our directors, staff, and associates harmless immediately on demand, from and against all claims, liability, damages, losses, costs and expenses, including reasonable legal fees, arising out of any breach of the conditions by you or any other liabilities arising out of your use of this website, or the use by any other person accessing the website using your user account and/or your personal information.

All matters concerning and incidental to subscription to, and use of the services provided by www.personalstatementchecker.com shall be in English and construed and governed according to English law and the English courts shall have jurisdiction in all such matters.
